Mattes who at one time served on the National Right to Life Board along with Louis Kavanaugh Jr. stated “we are making some great strides in the protecting the lives of the unborn in spite of what you read or hear in the major press.” He went on to say that laws are being passed in pro-life states that are making it very difficult for Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion organizations and that is why their friends in the press are raising such a storm and trying to discredit anyone who stands up for lives of the unborn. He also praised President Donald Trump for his appointments of federal judges and the appointment of people to key positions in the administration who are helping to dry up funds going to pro-abortion organizations who received these funds during the Obama years as president. He stated “President Donald Trump is the most pro-life President we have ever had. I say that even thought I was such a big fan of President Regan. This President has done more to stifle the pro-abortion movement than any president and the press hate him and are doing what they can to destroy him.”

Mattes is President and CEO of Life Institute and is also very involved in the International Right to Life Federation. Daviess and Martin County along with their friends in Pike County put on the Banquet each year as a fund raiser and this year was another banner year for the Organizations.
